Help LALAYA win the RADO Star Prize!

We are honoured to be one of four finalists for the RADO Star Prize, a design competition sponsored by RADO and Interior Design Show Toronto. The theme for this competition was DESIGN INSPIRED BY NATURE. This makes us eligible to win a $5,000 prize to help us produce the prototype salt shaker we applied with, which will be exhibited at IDS next January. We could also win the “prix du public” if you vote for us! (Please do).

Our First Print Magazine Article!

We met Kendra Jackson and Erin Donnelly while exhibiting at the Interior Design Show in January 2018. Shortly after, they decided to write up a profile about LALAYA Design, our inaugural collection and how we got started.

We are honoured that AZURE Magazine chose to feature us in their "Best in Show" section about Toronto Design Week 2018! You can read the full article online or download a PDF version of if here.

LALAYA Design debuts at IDS 2018

In January 2018, we participated in Toronto’s Interior Design Show, marking our first appearance in a trade show.

LALAYA Design was selected by a jury to present its work in the Prototype section of Toronto’s Interior Design Show - a space for emerging designers to showcase one or two items from their collections. We presented our KA TSI KA TA side table and AYÊ table lamp.

It was a wonderful opportunity to introduce our inaugural collection to the world, make some initial contacts and get some feedback. Overall, our work was very well received by the public and media alike.

Here are a few of the media highlights:

LALAYA Design's official launch!

Though we registered LALAYA Design in May 2017, we had our launch party in November 2017 hosted by the gracious Annie Aime.

It was the first time that we revealed our inaugural collection to friends and the industry alike. This first party was a real family affair with my brother, his girlfriend and my mother all pitching in with the catering and my father on photography. Dear friends also made a beautiful contribution by playing some live LALAYA tunes and enlivening the whole evening.

Thank you to all those who came! The amount of joy in the room was palpable! See for yourself.
